Save the Child – Save the Nation, Organization is working for the last many years to combat the above mentioned and other related issues and tried its best for the welfare of children without discrimination of color, cost, creed and religion etc. and has been rendered valuable services in this regard. Use of narcotics amongst children especially youth is still alarming if no sincere efforts are made, strong probability is there, of becoming youth victims of narcotics, each one of us can easily observe it around the society. Organization is also working against the narcotics use amongst the youth different programs are arranged to create awareness amongst society against narcotics.
Anti-Narcotics Force Pakistan , Peshawar is also paying a vital roll for the elimination of narcotics. ANF not only supports other NGOs throughout the country, but also In the KPK, it has been concentrated much more than the other provinces, keeping in view its geographic structure. In collaboration with anti-narcotics force, Pakistan , Peshawar organization has arranged awareness campaign against drug abuse through seminar, poster competition of title “SAY NO TO DRUGS” and book fare. Aim and object of said competition was not only developing awareness against narcotics but also to promote hidden creative talent of the students. Throughout the district students participated in the competition with great enthusiasm and made purposeful pesters on the topic, easily conveying messages, how the narcotics are harmful to human being but also effects the environment. Program was held on 13th, March 2010 at Peshawar Press Club, chair was presided, by Honorable Deputy Director ANF Mr.Fazal-e-Habib Sahib, beside him Syed Khizar Ali Shah, Deputy Director Police Child Protection Centre, Mr.Muntazir Khan Assistant to Commissioner for Revenue also joined the occasion and addressed to the participants. Huge number of the students and other people from the different field of life also participated in the ceremony of the Book Fare. Program commenced with the recitation of Holy Qura’an Pak said by Ibrar Azmat, after address Mr.Hayatullah Advocate, Coordinator for the organization made introductory speech and highlighted the objects and activities carried on by the organization. Addressing to the participants, Mr.Syed Khizar Ali Shah Deputy Director, Polio Child Protection Centre, stated that six month prior the said centre has been established having object to provide a comfortable place to the minor offender and keeping them in the centre instead of sending them to jail because it is in the knowledge of each one that our jails are not working as Reformatory institutions, he also addressed that missing children are also kept in the centre unless and until they are not re-unioned with their families, adding more, he stated further that they are desirous to make and represent the police a friendly police to the community and trying their best to eliminate bad impression of the police amongst the society.
Mr.Muntazir Khan, ACR, ensured fully cooperation on behalf of him and Govt to the organization and appreciated the organization activities. Lastly Mr.Fazal-e-Habib Deputy director ANF Peshawar addressed the participants in a very fascinated manner described the efforts and role of the ANF in eradication of the narcotics. He stated on the occasion that their institution has very contributive role in the elimination of the dugs, it is working on two different ways, on one side the MFIA who are involved in the trafficking of the narcotics are arrested and put them before the court and try to award them exemplary punishment from the competent court of law. Secondly ANF is also mobilizing the society for creating awareness against narcotics to achieve this object, throughout the country, non-governmental organizations are supported, he assured that with the cooperation of the society, soon they would be able to combat upon evil. He also appreciated the efforts of the society and assured fully cooperation to the organization in future. At the end, book gift and certificate were distributed amongst the students by the Honorable Chief Guest and other distinguished guests..
